Regulatory acceptance for DU7000 CRT assembly progresses

The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) has approved Thomas Electronics' repair scheme for the primary flight display DU-7000 fitted to B747-400 aircraft.

The certification allows Thomas to provide an overhaul service of the display for all airlines operating B747-400.

Thomas Electronics Managing Director William Hutchinson says the approval of this cost-effective support alternative is particularly significant given the difficult economic climate experienced by the airline industry.

The approval of this support alternative has been of great interest to airlines - including the Star Alliance and One World groups, he says.

"We'd like to thank our airline customers for their support and assistance over the past three years during the certification process."

With around 600 B747-400 aircraft in service, the certification provides Thomas with the opportunity to significantly expand its specialist avionic support business.
